Vetiver is a perennial bunch grass that is used around the world for slope stabilization, erosion control and for its oil and aromatic roots. It makes a beautiful garden addition, does not spread and does not distribute seeds. Planted in a sunny spot it will gradually expand, sending roots up to 30 feet in the ground. The trimmings are a great source of natural mulch, and the roots can be dried and used to create sweet smelling essential oil.
